What I ment was that there's no real ways of learning how to be a good monk, every good monk in Guild Wars are very experienced and best way to learn how to monk in PvP enviroment is simply observing the ones who knows how to do it. Giving a few tips how to use this and this skill won't have a big value in the learning process, so that's why I don't bother. I've played myself a monk for 36 months now and yet I could say I learn something new in every game.

actually, watching pro monks in battles doesnt help a newbie much as he wont see who the monk casts his spells on and wouldnt know what to focus on when observing. example, look for the monk's positioning, see how he kites, etc.

Monking is pretty tough to pull off at the highest level, if you want to get there you should play other the other roles first. try a front line warrior, a mid line mesmer/ranger, etc than when you're familiar with what each role is supposed to do than you can start Monking well. as the key to Monking of to know the enemy's strengths, and you learn that by playing the different roles.

Now you get to the point which is most important when monking.
1) Positioning/Kiting
When monking it's very important to make it as hard as possible for enemy mesmers to be in touch with you but still to be in range always when Frontline is getting spiked. Also there couldn't be better way to stop a spike than running away before the actual spike gets off.

2) Watching enemy Frontline/Midline so that you can predict there moves and work accordingly.
How do you help protting your team by protting red bars? Good protter times his prots just before the spike hits the target - to make it harder to remove before the spike hits.

3) Knowning the most common skills by sounds/graphical effects & understanding how offensive classes works in GW.
I'd strongly advice new comers to put as much as possible of HUD turned off and observe top fights only thinking about the gameplay 'what's happening in here', again watching red bars going up and down doesn't help u a bit in your learning process.

When you're successful with this kind of stuff, you start to learn switching to correct weapon sets for castings and stuff like that.

It works both ways, when you monk you start understanding how to play Warrior/Midliner in a way to make as much pressure as possible to the enemy monks.

Oh undoubtedly there is something new to learn with every game.

Another thing that helps, is knowing the meta, and knowing skills cast-times/recharges. Knowing the meta allows you to theorycraft (to a certain extent) the more optimal ways to deal with certain builds. Knowing skill cast-times will allows you to get off that spell before an incoming Diversion hits you. Knowing recharges will allow you to force missed Bull's Strikes, use your skills after you know that aren't prone to interrupts, etc...

The last thing that helps, is playing. By playing, you can create better habits such as pre-positioning/pre-kiting, etc...

Just as a clarification...
Pre-positioning: Positioning yourself a distance away from enemy frontliners hitting your team
Pre-kiting: Kiting away from enemy frontliners when they are coming to attack you

I don't know if this was mentioned already but targeting an enemy makes your spells autotarget you. Can be useful to heal up and watch the enemy mesmer at the same time.

Darn it should been able to save different Keyboard Binds Templates.. Whenever i flag having the "Target Nearest Thing" is very helpfull and i have it on a close button, thou if i monk this shouldnt be neccesary at all but removing and fixing whit this all the time is just plain bah:P -

The only Skill usage i've binded is skill number 5 to R, 6,7,8 doesnt need as much spammish:P

Some usefull binds i have nar WASD is

Q = Push To Talk (Ventrillo)
E = Stop Action (Took it when Bsurge whit all the mesmers)
R = Skill Number 5 (One skills i usually use much)
Tab / Caps = Scroll backwards/forwards
Shift = target nearest thing:P

Also F , target yourself seems kinda useless if not having any heals / prots :/ - having to push Say 8 , on the keyboard can steal some valueable seconds :/

Thou if im warrior i wouldnt need like Stop Action, neither Target Nearest thou it can be nice if killing opposite runner, lol rem once i killed the runner but missed when i clicked on the flag on the screen like 10times:P

- Summery x) = WTB Interface / Keybinds templates!!!

i really wanted to know as a monks point of view when ur under a lot of pressure and u've got 8 bars to keep in mind how do u select them? By clicking on the appropriate bar which needs attention or by switching to it with they keyboard. Cause i often find my self when I need to react quickly i accidently click at the wrong bar and eventually pay for it.

when i monk i try to keep my teams red bars as big as possible.
many people overlook this idea saying it is insignificant, but i think it can have a surprisingly large impact on your effectiveness as a monk.
this works for me, i hope it helps u and works well for you too.
